Why Aretha Franklin Cancelled Whitney Houston Funeral Performance?

Aretha Franklin, soul legend and Whitney Houston’s godmother, has cancelled her performance at the late singer’s funeral. The singer was expected to give an emotional rendition of one of Whitney Houston’s hits, but Franklin cancelled the performance due to illness.

US Magazine reports that Franklin, 69, was scheduled to perform "The Greatest Love of All" at Houston’s funeral service today at the New Hope Baptist Church but she has cancelled her performance.

It has to be mentioned that a few days after Whitney was found dead in a bathtub at a Beverly Hills Hotel, Franklin released a statement saying:

"I just can’t talk about it now. It’s so stunning and unbelievable. I couldn’t believe what I was reading coming across the TV screen. My heart goes out to Cissy, her daughter Bobbi Kris, her family and Bobby."

Do you think Aretha Franklin was really too ill to sing? Or do you think she was just overcome with grief?

Feel free to comment.
