The controversial Michael Jackson tribute Michael Forever took place in Cardiff, Wales on Saturday, much to the speculation of fans and objection of certain Jackson family members. Despite last minute cancellations by the Black Eyed Peas, who pulled out last week due to “unavoidable circumstances,” and Jennifer Hudson, who tweeted about “major production issues” that kept her from performing, the event still boasted appearances by Christina Aguilera, Ne-Yo, Cee Lo, Leona Lewis, Jamie Foxx, Gladys Knight, Smokey Robinson and Beyoncé.
B performed in a pre-taped segment shown via satellite, wearing an afro and singing her Jackson 5 favorite “I Wanna Be Where You Are,” while Ne-Yo remembered Jackson’s signature dance moves and style on songs like “Billie Jean” and “The Lady In My Life.” Aguilera brought her voice—but seemed to have left her pants at home—for her own renditions of “Smile” and “Dirty Diana,” before the giant roster gathered together for a “Don’t Stop ‘Til You Get Enough” finale. Watch select performances below.
